Brewery
Hi and welcome to O’Beerificio, The Neapolitan Brewery.
Here I would like to tell you about the brewery, the idea behind it and what I am aiming for.
Before moving forward, if you would like to know more about myself or my history feel free to visit the related pages.
O’Beerificio, the Neapolitan Brewery. What is the name about?
Searching for the right name is not an easy task. A name should be clear and understandable, providing already an idea of what that company does and, of course, being appealing.
Searching for the perfect name for my brewery was not an easy task because it should clearly state about my roots and the idea behind the beers I am putting into a market already full.
O’Beerificio is a pun between the English word beer and the Italian word birrificio (brewery). The article “O’ ” is adding a touch of Naples, and while reading it you are just pronouncing the word brewery in Neapolitan. So quite cool, isn’t it?
That’s it! A name easy to remember, stating what the project is all about with the “Neapolitan touch” that makes it a bit funny too.

The claim “The Neapolitan Brewery” is enforcing that the brewery has a Neapolitan style, Neapolitan roots.
Maybe you are wondering what Neapolitan means and I see your concern, because indeed this is not a common word.
Neapolitan is the English translation of Napoletano, a word that in Italy identifies the language spoken in Naples as well as their citizens.
Mission
O’ Beerificio, at the time of writing, is a home brewery trying to move the first steps to join the Dutch breweries movement, with a clear distinguishing factor: established by a foreigner with the dream of letting people know about Naples via beers.
As written in the article about myself, I traveled a lot for work. Each visited airport had something in common with the previous one: all the bookshops had travel guides telling about Italy from North to Rome, completely forgetting about the South and all its beauties.
That was really hurting my feelings, and the idea of pushing more my home town in the visited countries, started to consolidate quite fast in my mind. Therefore, each time I talked to a colleague or to a stranger in the airport, I was suggesting to visit Naples as part of their Italian trip. Overall, I am representing my own town abroad, who else better than a local can suggest great places to visit?
When I stopped to The Netherlands, and resumed my brewing hobby, I started to make recipes inspired by Naples and surroundings and so the idea popped up. Why not use the beverage of happiness and conviviality to let my own town be more known in the Dutch community? So, here we are.
Each recipe is inspired and tells something about Naples: culture, cuisine, monuments and so on, and each beer has a name that relates to Naples playing with Neapolitan words, the beer style or just the name where I took inspiration from.
Let’s not forget about the label, the most important thing that describes and lets people choose it.

The background picture shows what the recipe is inspired from, and in the right panel you will see the description of the beer and of the background image.
A great experience is nothing if it is not supported by a great quality product. We aim to use the highest quality ingredients (malts, hops, water and yeast) for our beers that are coming from Dutch producers or as closest as possible to The Netherlands.
Commitment
Starting a brewery or, in general, a company comes with a lot of responsibilities and how those are tackled makes the project stronger and more appealing on the market.
In order to accomplish our mission and adhere to our idea of providing a surrounding great experience, we will take the environment as our first priority, anyhow we are just guests in this beautiful world.
- The main focus is on the water. We are collecting the water that is not ending up as bottled beer, so we can re-use it for cleaning of the equipment or storing it for the plants or other use.
- We are not using any chemical that is harmful for the environment. All the cleaning products and sanitizers are natural and labeled as environment friendly.
- The energy used to brew is all coming from solar panels installed on top of the house.
- All the ingredients used are from Bio agriculture and from the closest producer possible.
And even when not brewed at home, we are choosing brewing partners that are sharing the same ideas.
In conclusion, the idea is to provide a full Neapolitan experience starting from holding the bottle, watching and reading the label and ending with drinking it.
Future plans
Owning a brewery is the ultimate goal, maybe with a tap room where customers can sit and drink our beers and, why not, with some traditional Neapolitan food.
Currently we are in a market research campaign with the help of some Italian restaurants, in order to collect feedback and actually see how the customers like it.
Once that is done, we will start supplying more beers to the restaurants that would like to keep the collaboration. The beers will not be brewed at home anymore, but in breweries that are renting it out when not brewing for themselves.
The last phase is really crucial because it will really tell us if our project is good or not and based on it we can take the further steps towards the brewery and the tap room.
Stay tuned for further details. Cheers!
